A man's been charged over the death of a teenage girl who was hit by a car on Ormonde Road in Sunderland
17-year-old Sarah Jane Burke (pictured) died as a result of her injuries six days after the crash.
Police have charged 39 year old David Mark Baillie, from Magdalene Place in Sunderland, with causing death by dangerous driving.
He will appear at South Tyneside Magistrates Court this morning (Tuesday September 24th).
Officers investigating the collision are continuing to appeal for anyone who was in Ormonde Street and who witnessed the incident to get in touch with any information on 101 ext 69191.

The 17-year-old, who's been named as Sarah Jane Burke from Cleveland Road in Sunderland has been in hospital since the crash on the 17th of September.
A 39-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He is currently in police custody.
Officers are continuing to appeal for information into the collision and anyone who was in Ormonde Street and who saw what happened is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191.

A 17-year-old girl was knocked down by a blue Volvo S60 in Ormonde Street at around 5:30pm yesterday (Tuesday 17th September).
She was airlifted to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary with what police described as "serious and potentially life threatening injuries''.
