A 21 year old man from Jesmond has been charged with racially abusing the former Premier League footballer and pundit Stan Collymore on Twitter.
Northumbria police say Joshua Cryer 'from the Jesmond area' was charged last night (Saturday 7th Jan) with "a Section Five racial public order offence and a Section Five public order offence".
He'll appear before Newcastle magistrates on Monday January 23rd.
Northumbria police launched an investigation in the early hours of Saturday after an allegation was passed on from colleagues in Staffordshire - where Collymore lives.
