Fire Destroys Row Of Shops

An entire row of shops in Eaglescliffe has been destroyed by a fire.

The fire broke out in a row of shops, known as the Orchard shops, on Durham in Eaglescliffe 1:45am on Saturday morning.

It's believed the fire started in Figaro Pizza shop and quickly spread to neighbouring businesses.

It took more than 40 fire fighters to battle the blaze. 

Police are treating it as suspicious and an investigation's been launched.
