Extra officers will be on patrol in Newcastle City Centre to make sure people enjoy a safe Bank Holiday weekend.
Officers are gearing up for large numbers of people coming into the city to enjoy themselves in the bars and clubs.
Chief Inspector Bruce Storey of Newcastle Area Command said:
"We want people to enjoy themselves when they come to Newcastle this Spring Bank Holiday weekend and stay safe while having a good night out.
We've increased the number of uniformed officers on patrol in the city centre to ensure people are safe when enjoying their night out.
Officers will also be visiting licensed premises to reassure customers and support bar staff and door supervisors.
We want to make sure that a small minority of people don't spoil the enjoyment of everyone else by becoming involved in anti-social behaviour, drunkenness or crime."
