A driver's died after a car and an HGV crashed on the A1 near Fenwick in Northumberland.
It happened at 00:45am this morning, Tuesday March 20th.
At the time of the collision the HGV was travelling south and the car North.
The driver of the lorry suffered minor injuries, was treated at hospital and later released.
The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.
It hasn't been possible to identify the driver because of the extent of the injuries caused by the crash.
Police are still at the scene and a section of the road remains closed.
Diversions have been put in place. They are expected to be in place until lunchtime - to allow for collision investigation and vehicle recovery.
