Cyclist Killed After Being Hit By A Lorry

A cyclist's died after he was hit by a lorry on the A66 near Stockton.

It happened at around 6:25pm on Tuesday 21st May on the A66 westbound near to the Eaglescliffe slip road.

The man in his 60s was pronounced dead at the scene.

The lorry driver, a 49-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently in police custody.

Both carriageways of the A66 were closed from the Preston Farm slip road to the Long Newton slip road to allow for traffic officers to investigate.
