Cheryl Maddison from Houghton Le Spring's giving evidence against a man accused of stabbing and raping her and leaving her for dead.
The 25 year old left Houghton Le Spring for new life abroad 4 years ago.
She'd only been on the holiday island for six days when she claims to have been attacked.
Cheryl's waived her right to anonymity and given evidence behind a screen where she's told the court in Majorca, the only way she could stop her attacker was to play dead.
31 year old Moroccan waiter Mohamed Fadel El Anssari faces charges of attempted murder and rape - which he denies.
He was arrested two years ago after his DNA was found on a cigarette end.
The trial continues.
