Boy Hurt In South Shields Crash

A 10 year old boy's been airlifted to hospital after he was hit by a car in South Shields.

At 4.15pm on Tuesday, May 21st, police received a report of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian at Western Approach in South Shields.

The pedestrian is believed to be a boy aged 10.

He's been taken to hospital by air ambulance for treatment.

The road was closed in both directions for a short time and re-opened at 5.15pm.

Police are making enquiries to establish the circumstances and are appealing for any witnesses to contact them on 101 ext 69191.
