Body Found In Search For Missing Ponteland Woman

Police searching for missing Ponteland woman Sally Allan have found a body.

The 59 year old disappeared from her home in the early hours of Boxing Day last year.

It's thought she walked to Newcastle's quayside, where she was last seen on CCTV at around 6am.

Huge searches have since taken place, with flowers being laid on the quayside by family and friends.

Northumbria Police have now confirmed a body was found in the River Tyne at Tynedock West in South Shields yesterday afternoon.

No formal identification's taken place but Sally's family have been told.
