Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was attacked in Wigan at the weekend.
Sometime between midnight and 12.30am on Sunday 24 July 2011, the 21-year-old victim was walking along a pathway just off Tan House Drive, Winstanley when she was approached by two men from behind.
One of them grabbed her bag and using the straps, forced her to the floor. She was held to the ground before she was sexually assaulted.
A car horn was heard and the men then got into the car, taking the woman's handbag, and drove off.
One man is described as being white, in his mid 30s, of medium build, had short, spiky hair that was gelled and had a beard. He was wearing a dark hooded top and tracksuit pants.
Detective Constable Rachel Forsythe from Wigan CID said: "Clearly the victim has been left shocked by her ordeal and we are determined to find those responsible for this terrible crime.
I would urge anyone who may have seen something or heard the beeping of the car horn between midnight and 12.30am on Sunday to contact us. You may hold vital information which would enable us to catch these men."
Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 7149 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
