Investigations are underway after a woman was found in an alleyway in Rochdale with serious head and facial injuries.
She was discovered in the alley way between Yorkshire Street and the police station just before half 5 on Saturday morning.
The woman's not thought to have been at her home address that evening and had probably been staying elsewhere.
She was taken to hospital for treatment to serious head and facial injuries and remains in a serious but stable condition.
Detective Inspector Vicky Shaw, said: "Unusually this woman was in a night dress and barefoot when she was found and I am certain someone will have seen her at some point.
"Did you pass her on the street or spend time with her on Friday night or Saturday morning?
"It is vital we know what her last movements were so we can establish exactly who attacked her and when."
