Police manhunt has started after a young girl was dragged into the back of a van in Middleton and raped.
Sometime between 10.30pm and 11.30pm last Saturday, the girl was walking through Hilton Walk, when two men came over to her and chatted before she was grabbed and put in the back of a nearby white transit van.
She was raped before she was let go near to Croft Gates Road.
The men are described as being white and aged in their late 30s or early 40s.
Detective Inspector Ian Harratt from the Serious Sexual Offences Unit said: "This incident will obviously shock and appal members of the local community. However, I want to reassure residents that incidents of this nature are rare and extra police patrols have been placed in the area. If you have any concerns about what has taken place, please approach your local officer.
"We are working very hard to identify and arrest the offenders and I would ask anyone with information to come forward as soon as possible.
"I would ask members of the public to remain vigilant and take sensible precautions such as staying to well-lit areas. Do not walk home alone after a night out - instead take a taxi home. Also, make sure someone knows where you are and where you are going when out late at night."
