Stockport Man Charged Over PC Death

A man's been charged with killing an off-duty police officer in Stockport.

Gareth Francis died after an alleged attack near a pub on Castle Street, Edgeley, at around 1.20am on Sunday 20 January.

A post mortem found the 28-year-old died from a head injury following a single punch

Westley Holland, who's 20 and from Laburnum Way, Stockport has been charged with manslaughter and will appear before Stockport Magistrates on Thursday.

A 21-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder has been released without charge.
