Snow Shuts Parts Of M62 in Greater Manchester

There are over two hour delays and 13 miles of tailbacks on both ways of the M62 after heavy snow caused problems in Greater Manchester.
Snow hit much of the area and several centimetres fell overnight causing major road problems.
Several lorries broke down on the M62 eastbound causing severe delays, road closures and queueing traffic for 13 miles from J21 Milnrow to J22 Rishworth Moor
Two and a half hours delays on the Manchester-bound side from J28 A650 / A653 (Tingley) to J22 A672 (Rishworth Moor)
There are reports that a lorry has broken down in the queues at J26.
The Highways Agency said there’s also massive delays on the M60.
The snow fall also led to the closure of the A537 Cat and Fiddle road in Macclesfield and the A57 Snake Pass, which links Sheffield and Manchester.
Forecasters said between 6 to 8 inches of snow fell in high parts of the Peak District, Pennines and Cumbria overnight.
