Sale Dad's Death Not Suspicious

There is still mystery surrounding the death of a Sale dad whose remains were found under the M60 near Stockport 8 years after he went missing.

28 year old Vinny Derrick vanished after a night out in Manchester in 2003. His remains were found under a flyover on the M60 last Wednesday.

A post mortem found his cause of death is still unclear but found he had a number of broken bones and could have been hit by a car or fallen.

Greater Manchester Police say they are not treating his death as suspicious at this stage and say they are keeping an mind about how Vinny died.

Detective Chief Inspector Sara Wallwork, of Stockport CID, said: "This remains a difficult and complex inquiry and the result of the post mortem examination was never going to change that.

"The pathologist concluded that, while we cannot categorically confirm a cause of death, the injuries are consistent with a fall. However, there is also a possibility that he may have been involved in a collision with a vehicle.

"Vinny's family have been informed of the result and we are continuing to provide them with support and will continue to update them."
