A man has been jailed for raping a woman in his Rochdale flat as she lay unconscious on a bed.

23 year old Scott David Wiseley of Bolton Road, Rochdale was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison at Bolton Crown Court.

He was found guilty of rape following a trial and was sentenced to six and a half years in prison.

Wiseley was also sentenced to two years in prison for a separate offence of burglary after pleading guilty in court back in October 2011.

The sentenced will run one after another

In August 2011 a 19 year old girl had been out drinking with friends.

The victim and her friends were invited round to Wiseley’s flat near the centre of Rochdale.

The girl’s friends carried on drinking when they got there, but the victim was already quite drunk so she stopped drinking.

Wiseley was acting erratic, dancing around and taking his top off, then putting it back on. One of the group asked him if he had taken drugs but he said no he was just drunk.

A little later Wiseley started kissing the victim as they sat on the couch.

When she got up to go to the bathroom, Wiseley followed her.

One of the group, worried about her friend, tried to open the bathroom door but couldn’t get in.

Wiseley came out of the bathroom shortly afterwards and the victim was unconscious on the floor.

Her friend’s helped her from the bathroom, and she was put on the bed to sleep.

Not long after, she started to be sick. As her friends tried to help her and were planning to take her home, Wiseley went into a rage and chased the victim’s three friends out of the flat, slamming the front door shut.

They kept banging on the door and said they would call the police if he didn’t let them in.

They rang 999 and when police arrived, they forced their way in and found Wiseley unconscious on the bed next to the victim. He had raped her.

Detective Constable Chris Whalley from Rochdale CID said: “Wiseley took advantage of a young woman when she was in a vulnerable state and went out of his way to ensure he got her alone and away from her friends, who were trying to look after her.

“Although the victim had kissed Wiseley earlier that evening, she did not consent to anything further with him and for him to do this to her when she was unconscious is just sickening.

“I hope that today, Wiseley’s victim can take some solace at the fact he has put been behind bars for a long time for what he has done to her.”
