Robber Attacks Manchester Man For Just £4

A masked robber's attacked an 82-year-old man with an iron bar in north Manchester - making off with just £4.

The pensioner was attacked at home in Middleton Road at about 7.30pm on New Year's Eve.

The victim was lying on a sofa in the lounge when he was hit several times with the iron bar - suffering cuts to his head and an injury to his arm.

The only money the pensioner had was £4 - which he handed over.

Detective Sergeant Chris Flint said: "This was an unwarranted attack on an elderly man. We are thoroughly investigating this robbery and the offender needs to be caught.

"I would urge anyone who may have seen a man who was in the area, matching the description, to call us."
