Police quiz man over Moston shootings

A man has been arrested after shots were fired at properties in Moston.

Shortly before 12.30am on Monday 13 May 2019, police were called to Teddington Road to reports that shots had been fired at a property.

In the hours that followed, police were called at around 2.40pm to Gainford Gardens to reports of a firearms discharge at a property.

A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with the intent to cause fear of violence. He remains in custody for questioning.

Superintendent Umer Khan, of GMP’s North Manchester District, said: “While we have someone in custody I would like to stress that our investigation does not stop here and also reassure members of the public that we are taking these reports extremely seriously.

“I understand that these events will undoubtedly have an impact on those in the local community and for this reason there will be an increased police presence in the coming days. So please, if you have any issues or concerns reach out to these officers who are very much here to help.

“I would also implore anyone who thinks can assist our enquiries to come forward. If you have any information, no matter how insignificant you think it may be, please speak with officers at the earliest opportunity.”
