Police Appeal To Catch Man Wanted For Oldham Schoolgirl Rape
Police in Oldham are appealing for help finding a man wanted in connection with the rape of a schoolgirl.
Henry Akhigbe, born 11/6/84, is believed to have been involved in the rape of a 14-year-old girl at a house on Copster Hill Road, Oldham, on Saturday 6 February 2010.
He was arrested and interviewed and released on bail pending further inquiries until May 2010. He failed to answer his bail and his whereabouts remain unknown.
He has previously lived in Oldham and is known to frequent various locations in Manchester. He was born in Nigeria and is in the UK on a student visa. It is believed he could now be anywhere in the country.
Detective Constable Tim Hegarty, of Oldham Sexual Crime Unit, said:
'It has been several months since we first appealed for the public's help to catch Akhigbe.
'He is still at large and, given the nature of the offence, we are determined to bring him in.
'We want people to take a good look at Akhigbe's picture and tell us if they have seen him or know of his whereabouts.
'We don't want people to approach him directly, if you see him call 999, saying you have seen a person who is wanted by the police.
'He is wanted in connection with a serious sexual related crime and has posed a risk to a young girl in the past it is imperative we bring him in as soon as possible.'
