A 20 year old man's in hospital after he was shot on Westray Crescent in Salford
It happened just after 8.10pm yesterday (Tues 8th January)
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment - but his injuries aren't life threatening.
A short time later, police chased a car which failed to stop on Adelphi Street.
Three men, aged 18, 19 and 19, who were in the car - which turned out to be a stolen VW Polo - were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
All three remain in police custody for questioning.
Superintendent Wayne Miller, said:
"A young man appears to have been deliberately targeted by offenders armed with a gun, but thankfully his injuries are not life threatening.
We are committed to robustly and meticulously investigating this incident in order to identify and bring to justice those responsible.
Incidents like this undoubtedly cause concern within the community and I want to reassure residents right across the city that we have been and will continue to work with the council to drive down offences involving guns.
We have dedicated officers and resources spread across the borough that are being utilised to identify and bring to justice those who use weapons to commit crime and intimidate residents.
We will have officers in the area in the coming days and will be linking in with local residents to inform them of this incident, the work ongoing to tackle gun crime in Salford and to give the community an opportunity to come forward and talk to us in complete confidence."
