21 year old Daniel Hadfield of no fixed address has been jailed for 6 years after being convicted of rape at Bolton Crown Court
Hadfield was walking the victim to get a taxi in the early hours of Thursday 29 September 2011 in Rochdale town centre when he dragged the woman to the ground and raped her.
It happened in a ginnel between Hopwood Hall College and St Mary's Gate, Hadfield.
Detective Constable Nick Price, of Rochdale CID, said: "The victim thought she was safe with Hadfield and trusted him to safely escort her to a place where she could get a taxi home.
"Instead, he has waited until he got her alone in an isolated ginnel and raped her."
"The victim has suffered immensely as a result of this attack and I hope she finds some comfort in the knowledge that Hadfield will spend many years behind bars where he can prove no threat to her or any other woman."
