Police are investigating after a man was stabbed in his chest, head and hand in Moreton yesterday evening.

Emergency services were called to Gabriel Close just before 6pm to reports a man in his 20s had been injured. He was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The suspect is described as white, aged 25-30, 5ft 11in tall, of medium build, with a shaved head and receding hairline, and wearing a black top.

Officers will be in the Gabriel Close and surrounding area to carry out house-to-house, forensic, CCTV and witness enquiries, and to make sure the community feels safe.

Detective Inspector Laura Lamping said: "We believe that this was a targeted attack from our initial enquiries. But in these early stages of the investigation, it is vital to establish exactly what happened. A man has been seriously injured tonight, in what would have been an awful incident to witness or hear about.

"If you were passing, saw the offender running off or anyone behaving suspiciously in the immediate vicinity, come forward. Home CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage or images may be vital as we carry out initial enquiries.

"We all recognise the risk, harm and often devastation that knife crime causes across Merseyside and beyond. Help us find who was responsible for this attack, and we can remove him and another dangerous weapon from our streets. Your information can and does make your communities safer, so let us know what you know."
