Man charged over Bootle crossbow killing

Police have charged a man with the murder of 38-year-old Lee Atkins.

Officers were called to Monfa Road shortly before 1.55am on Monday, 6 May to reports a man had been found with life-threatening injuries in the street. Emergency services attended and he was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
A Home Office post mortem confirmed the cause of death was abdominal bleeding due to a deep penetrating wound to the abdomen consistent with a crossbow discharge.
David Ball, 49 years, of Brookhill Close, Bootle has today been charged with murder. He has been remanded in custody to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday 9 May 2019.
A 41-year-old man from Bootle arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on bail, pending further enquiries.
