Fresh Appeal Over Miguel Reynolds Murder

At around 8pm on Thursday, 7 June 2018, emergency services were called to Assissian Crescent, Netherton following reports a male had been shot.

Detectives investigating the murder of Miguel Reynolds are continuing to appeal for information on the first anniversary of his death, Friday, 7 June.

At around 8pm on Thursday, 7 June 2018, emergency services were called to Assissian Crescent, Netherton following reports a male had been shot.

On arrival, officers found 21 year-old Miguel, who had been shot with a handgun, with a fatal injury to his neck.

He was taken to hospital but was sadly pronounced dead a short time later. Detectives believe that an earlier shooting, also with a handgun, in Marie Curie Avenue is linked to the murder investigation.

A number of men and women have been arrested and remain under investigation in connection with the murder and an extensive investigation continues. Officers remain keen to speak to anyone who may have information about the incident and would urge those individuals to come forward.

Detective Superintendent John Webster said: “It has now been a year since Miguel was brutally murdered and while we have made significant progress in our investigation, we are still asking for anyone with information to contact us.

“Miguel’s family continue to suffer his loss every day and we are determined to give them the results they deserve and bring those involved in this horrific crime to justice.

“The shooting occurred in Assissian Crescent, a residential area on a light summer’s night in June so we know a number of people must have heard or seen something. The public and local community have been a great assistance so far which I would like to thank them but I would ask you once again to cast your mind back and try to recall any suspicious behaviour, no matter how trivial it may have seemed at the time, and come forward to police.

“We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed males, some on foot and some riding mountain bikes, in the area of Harrops Croft estate and the canal path shortly after 8pm on the 7 June. We are also keen to speak to anyone who saw a small fire and males in the area of the sports field adjacent to Harrops Croft estate shortly after 8pm.

“Violence on our streets is unacceptable and gun crime will not be tolerated by Merseyside Police. I would like to reassure the community that we are pursuing a number of lines of enquiry and continue to do everything we can to put those involved in Miguel’s death behind bars.”
