Police are appealing for four people to come forward seven months after Carl Russell was murdered in Belle Vale.

Carl was fatally shot in Cornwood Close on 7 October and an extensive investigation is ongoing by specialist detectives from the Major Crime Unit.

Detectives have now issued CCTV images of three people, all seen in the area around the time, as officers would like to speak to them about the incident. We would also like to speak to the driver of a silver car seen nearby. There is no suggestion any of the people in the images were involved.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Baker said: “We are asking the people pictured and the owner of the silver car to consider whether they saw anything suspicious, no matter how trivial you may feel it was at the time, and to come forward. If you recognise any of the people, we also ask that you come forward so that we can make efforts to speak to them.

"I can re-iterate the fact they are not in any trouble and are not suspects in our enquiries.”

DCI Baker added: "It is now seven months since Carl was murdered and we have devoted significant resources to finding out what happened, and bringing the offender to justice.

"During the course of the investigation we have arrested two men, who have been released while our enquiries continue as we try to piece together what happened and who killed Carl.

"The offender is believed to have been riding a pedal bike and made off from the scene on the bike in the direction of Loxwood Close. He is described as being in his late 20s, of medium build, dressed all in black and wearing a high-vis orange jacket.

"The jacket would obviously have been very distinctive, so if you can cast your mind back to 7 October and saw the offender but haven’t yet come forward, please do."

If you are one of the people pictured, recognise them or own the car you can direct message the Merseyside Police social media desk via Twitter @MerPolCC or Facebook Merseyside Police CC.
