The police watchdog is to investigate a crash last night in Leicester which left two people dead.
The car crashed with a van then hit a shop after being followed by an unmarked police car.
Leicestershire Police said the collision involved a Peugeot 206 and a Ford Transit in Fosse Road South, Leicester, at the junction with Upperton Road just before midnight on Wednesday.
Two passengers in the Peugeot were pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The two occupants of the van suffered minor injuries.
The force said the Peugeot was being followed by an unmarked police car before the collision and the incident has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission which has begun an investigation.
