Jack Archer, 14, from Newton, was killed in a collision on Chapel Lane, Bingham late on Monday 25 July.
He was cycling home when it happened.
Alongside the tribute, his family has issued a picture of him which they have asked Nottinghamshire Police to publish.
"Our beloved Jack
"You were here for only a short time but your spirit and infectious personality has spread far and wide – we have always known how special you are and we take much comfort from realising that so many others did too. Your light continues to shine and touch anyone whom you have ever known and even those you did not.
"You embraced life in every way, never wasting a moment, a thirst for knowledge and adventure! A caring, generous soul, son, brother, grandson , nephew, cousin and loyal friend.
"There are simply no words to describe the enormous loss and hole that has been left in all our lives, we desperately miss you already and will continue to do so.
"As a close family we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming support and love that has carried us through this far, thank you to all for being there for all of us xx "
