Summit Held In Derby Over Syria Refugee Crisis

Council bosses, charity workers, MPs and religious leaders have met in Derby to discuss how Derbyshire can help tackle the migrant crisis.

The Bishop of Derby's told Capital he hopes a summit in the city will bring together ideas of how to support Syrian refugees.

Mid Derbyshire MP Pauline Latham also spoke at the summit about the importance of getting the balance right between helping people, and not allowing services to get too stretched.

MP Margaret Beckett, and charities including the Red Cross spoke of their experiences of what's available in terms of support and what more needs to be done.
