A photo of a sex attacker has been released by Leicestershire Police in the hope that more victims will recognise him and come forward
Peter Houlton of Patterdale Drive in Loughborough was jailed for 2 years yesterday for indecent assault, sexual activity with a minor and indecency with a child.
Houlton was also given a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) which will stop him from engaging in paid or voluntary employment that brings him into contact with anyone under the age of 16-years-old and will be on the Sex Offenders Register for ten years.
Sexual Grooming
The offences were between 2003 and 2007. He also had contact with them in internet chat rooms.
Detective Constable Beverley Toon, the investigating officer, said:
"Houlton was in a position of trust and totally abused that for his own gain. The victims have shown great courage throughout this process.
"Yesterday's result is a credit to those victims and the bravery they have shown throughout the lengthy investigation. Without the victims' courage the two year investigation wouldn't have resulted in the prison sentence given.
"Sexual grooming is something we all need to be aware of and something that can affect anyone. The warning signs include socialising with older men and the sudden appearance of gifts, such as jewellery, cigarettes, mobile phones and money. Also, victims sometimes stay away from home for days at a time and distance themselves from family or their usual circle of friends.
"Although we have already spoken to many of the youngsters that attended the cadets whilst Houlton worked there we are conscious of the fact there may be some who haven't come forward. If you remember Houlton, were a victim of a similar crime or have any information you think we should be aware of please call us, it isn't too late."
