Postmaster Abducted At Gunpoint

Driven from Nottingham to Barrow-upon-Soar by armed robbers.

An East Midlands postmaster abducted by two robbers and then driven to his post office in another county - has been telling Capital how he was threatened

"i've got this thug, shouting "get out the car, get out the car", and he's got a handgun at my head."

"They said if you don't do as you're told, we're gonna kill you. You best do what we tell you to do, we know where you live, we're gonna kill you, your wife, your children"

The victim, who wants to stay anonymous - was taken from Nottingham to Barrow Upon Soar in Leicestershire on Thursday night - police in the village disturbed the men as they tried to get into the post office - and they ran off.

Detective Constable Rob Buckley is investigating the incident:

This was an extremely distressing incident for the victim and we would urge the public to contact us if they witnessed any part of the incident in Edwalton or Barrow-Upon-Soar.

The Nissan was parked in the Co-op car park briefly before it was moved to the back of the post office and officers are urging anyone who was in that area and saw a similar vehicle containing three people parked up in the car park to contact them.

The suspects were last seen heading towards the railway lines on foot and we would ask local people to contact us if they saw two men fitting the description of the suspects running away from the area.

If you can help with any aspect of the investigation or you've heard rumours about the incident and who may be responsible then please come forward.  Any calls received will be treated in confidence.
