A man and his niece died of stab wounds in an incident in Nottinghamshire, a post-mortem has revealed.
Richard Thompson, 66, and his 48-year-old niece Lisa Butler were both treated for their injuries by paramedics on Tuesday evening.
Nottinghamshire Police said a post-mortem examination showed stab wounds were the cause of death, adding they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.
Mr Thompson, of Old Mill Lane, Forest Town, and Ms Butler, of Mansfield, were pronounced dead shortly after the arrival of paramedics.
Officers had been called to an incident in Forest Town and a residential address in Old Mill Lane just after 10pm to assist ambulance crews.
Police said the family described Mrs Butler as "a much-loved wife and mother".
Detective Inspector Rich Monk, leading the investigation, said: "Following the results of the post-mortem examination we now know they died of stab injuries and that we are not looking for anyone else in connection with their deaths.
"We will now prepare a file for the Coroner."
