A woman who died in a crash in Leicestershire earlier this month has been named by police.

The incident happened at around 11.35am Monday 7 January on Station Road, between Stoney Stanton and Elmesthorpe, and involved a blue Fiat 500 and a white Citroen Nemo panel van.

The 19-year-old driver of the Fiat - Leah Amber Ryan from Tamworth - was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the van was taken to the University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries and has since been discharged.

Detective Constable Beth Pick from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We continue to appeal to anyone who was in the area and assisted at the scene.

“If you saw either of the vehicles being driven beforehand or the collision itself or have any dashcam that captured the incident we’d like to hear from you.”

“If you have any information that could help with our enquiries and have not yet spoken to officers we urge you to get in contact.”
