Phone Theft Success
Police 'onto' gangs who are stealing phones from clubbers in Notts.
Police have told Capital they will find gangs who steal mobile phones from people in bars and clubs in Nottingham.
They've been working with doorstaff and venues in the city for nearly a month - and are telling drinkers to download tracking apps - so their phones can be found.
It's after a female student who'd downloaded a tracking app reported her phone stolen - leading to police action:
CI Andy Rooke, who oversees Neighbourhood Policing in the City:
"The officers used the tracking device that had been loaded onto the phone to trace it to an address (in the city) Upon gaining entry to the address, they arrested four males in possession of over 80 mobile phones.
This was an excellent result, made possible by the determination of the officers and by the simple act of the victim downloading the tracking application."
