Murder detectives investigating the fatal stabbing of a 58-year-old man in Nottingham have arrested nine people.

Tony Fisher is believed to have been the victim of a house burglary after he was found dead at home by his son in Coningswath Road, Nottingham, on Saturday, Nottinghamshire Police said.

The victim had been stabbed to death with a knife.

Seven men, aged between 22 and 47, and two women, 28 and 42, have now been arrested on suspicion of his murder.

Speaking on Tuesday, Detective Superintendent Rob Griffin, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: ``We now believe that that there was a burglary at Tony's home on Friday night.

``We do have evidence of a break-in.

``We also believe that Tony was deliberately targeted in the belief that he had a large amount of money in his house.''

Officers are still appealing to the public for information about the death, and in particular about the period of time in Coningswath Road between 10.30pm and 11pm on Friday, January 8.

Police have also asked anyone who spoke to the victim on the Friday to come forward.

Anyone with information is urged to call detectives on 0115 8446913, or dial 101.
