A man arrested on suspicion of drink-driving offences after two 19-year-olds were killed in a car crash on the Lincoln bypass has been released under investigation.

Lincolnshire Police said the 26-year-old man was detained on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, providing a positive breath test, and leaving the scene of a collision.

He has since been released from custody, the force added.

Two cars collided on the Lincoln bypass at around 12.50am on Saturday.

The teenage occupants of a white Citroen C3, a man and a woman, were pronounced dead at the scene following the collision with a blue Ford Mondeo estate.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
