Investigation Starts After Man Dies After Alleged Leicester Assault

Detectives have started an investigation after a man - suspected of being assaulted - died.

Police received a report yesterday (29 January) from a relative of a man, who was receiving treatment at the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham.

The report alleged that the injured man was assaulted at an address in Tatlow Road, Leicester on Tuesday 22 January and was admitted to hospital on Thursday 24 January.

The man died at hospital this evening (30 January).

A post mortem examination is due to take place and the death is being treated as suspicious.

A 50-year-old woman from Leicester has been arrested in connection with the death and remains in police custody.

Detective Inspector Jon Blockley said: “The investigation is in its early stages and detectives are working to establish the exact circumstances around his death and further details about the reported assault.

“Officers will be in the immediate area carrying out enquiries in connection with this incident and if anyone may have seen anything related to it or have information that could assist with our investigation, please get in touch with the police.”
