Detectives are treating the death of a man in Derby as murder.
The body of Trevor Middleton (36) was found at a house in Northumberland Street in Pear Tree at 5pm on Wednesday, October 2 after a neighbour rang police to raise concerns about him.
A post mortem examination has revealed that Mr Middleton died as a result of head injuries suffered during an assault. Officers believe he died more than a week before his body was discovered.
Police are trying to trace Mr Middleton's last movements.
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Cox, of the East Midlands Major Crime Unit, said: "Following the post mortem examination we are confident that we are dealing with a case of murder.
"We are trying to piece together Mr Middleton's last movements in the days before his death.
"Did you see or speak to Mr Middleton in recent weeks? If so we would like to hear from you."
Anyone with information should call the police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
