A46 Death Video Reconstruction
Detectives investigating a fatal crash on the A46 in Leicestershire release video to find witnesses
The collision happened at around 1:30am on Sunday January 8th in Ratcliffe on the Wreake and involved a Ford Transit van, a red BMW 318 and a pedestrian, Frederick William Kavanagh (39) from Sileby.
The video is a recontruction of what police officers believe to be the last moments leading up to Mr Kavanagh's death.
Officers are hoping that the video may jog people's memories and encourage people to come forward and assist with the investigation.
Detective Constable Seamus Burns is investigating the incident, he said:
"We believe that Mr Kavanagh may have walked along Ratcliffe Road before he was involved in a collision on the A46 around 1.30am on Sunday January 8.
"We would urge anyone who was travelling on Ratcliffe Road during the early hours of Sunday January 8 to contact us, even if you don't think you saw Mr Kavanagh it would still help us with our enquiries.
"We believe that Mr Kavanagh had been dropped off in Sileby earlier and we would like to hear from anyone who knows how he got to the A46.
"It's vitally important that we speak to anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident and believes they can help with any aspect of our investigation, it?s not too late to come forward."
Mr Kavanagh's family have released this statement: "Our son Frederick was loved by all of his family, his partner Ellen and children and by everyone who knew him. We are devastated by his loss and appeal to anyone who may have any information about his death to contact the police."
