300 British Gas Jobs To Go?

Plans to take Leicester roles abroad.

British Gas has confirmed just over 300 jobs could go at their site in Leicester - as they plan to move roles abroad.

A 90 day consultations started.

The company sent us this statement:

"The economy is struggling and the business energy sector is tough and highly competitive. Our business customers want good value and great customer service from us. If we are going to remain competitive, we need to reduce our costs. 

British Gas Business is now proposing to off shore a number of roles currently located at our sites in Leicester. 

We will work to support all those potentially impacted by today's announcement to ensure a fair, open and transparent process throughout. 

We recognise that today's news will be a very hard for our employees and their families. 

Proposing the off-shoring of a number of roles has been a very difficult decision to make but we do believe this is the best long term solution for our business."
