Detectives investigating the death of 16-year-old Abdullah Muhammad have arrested a Walsall man on suspicion of murder.
The 19-year-old - who is currently in police custody for questioning - was detained after the fatal stabbing in Herbert Road, Small Heath on Wednesday 20 February.
Specialist officers continue to support Abdullah's family at this difficult time.
Detective Chief Inspector Edward Foster, from the force's homicide team, said: "My thought remains with Abdullah's family who are devastated by his tragic and untimely death. They have been kept fully updated with this development.
"This arrest is a significant step forward in our investigation and we're doing all we can to bring those responsible to justice.
"We need answers for Abdullah's family, friends and the wider community who are saddened and shocked at the loss of another young life.
"I continue to appeal to anyone who has any information and has not yet come forward to contact us at the earliest opportunity."
