The family of a teenager killed after a car she was travelling in hit a wall have paid tribute to their "beautiful princess".
The family of a teenager killed after a car she was travelling in hit a wall have paid tribute to their "beautiful princess".
Charlie Leigh Burgoyne died at the scene in Dudley after the crash in the early hours of Thursday, West Midlands Police said.
Emergency services were called to Tansey Green Road, Pensnett, shortly after the incident but the 17-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
Arthur Pinches, of High Oak in Brierley Hill, appeared at Dudley Magistrates' Court on Friday after being charged with causing death by dangerous driving and dangerous driving.
The 27-year-old was remanded into custody to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court in June, police said.
Charlie's family said: "Sadly, it is with a very heavy heart that I share with you the tragic loss of my daughter.
"We are totally shocked and devastated at the loss of our beautiful princess.
"Charlie was my life; she was beautiful right to her core. She is loved deeply by all of her family and friends. Charlie was a popular girl and there are people out there that truly cared for her.
"Charlie was only 17 and may have been looked upon as a girl, but I know that my daughter was heading to become a wonderful lady with a beautiful soul, such a strong character with a strong head on those shoulders."
Manny Kelay, principal at Thorns Collegiate Academy, where Charlie was a student, said: "The loss of a young life is always a tragedy and the academy community feels it deeply. Our thoughts, prayers and sympathies are with Charlie's family at this sad time.
"Charlie was a warm, caring student, who made strong and lasting relationships within the academy. Many staff and students remember her fondly and she will be much missed."
