Teen Charged Over Birmingham Murder

Detectives investigating the death of Hazrat Umar in Birmingham have charged a teenager with murder.

The boy from Birmingham was arrested on Monday (25th February) after the fatal stabbing in Norwood Road that afternoon.

Hazrat Umar, aged 18 tragically died of his injuries at the scene and specialist officers are supporting his family.

The 16-year-old - who cannot be named for legal reasons - is due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court.

Paying tribute to Hazrat, his family said “Hazrat Umar was so very loved by all his family especially his parents. They were overjoyed with the birth of their precious son after over twenty years. 

The emptiness we feel after losing Hazrat can’t be described. Nobody deserves to have their life ended this way. 

Hazrat brought warmth, kindness and love to all his family and friends. 

Nothing can take away the pain of his untimely and tragic departure”

Detective Inspector Michelle Allen, from the force’s homicide department, said “This is a tragic loss of the life of a popular local young man. We continue to support Hazrat’s family and this very sad time. 

I appeal to anyone who has any information and has not yet come forward to contact us at the earliest opportunity.”
