Police in Birmingham have told Capital that they are looking to talk to a man dressed like a character from the TV show Peaky Blinders after another man was hit on the head with a metal bar in the city.
Detectives have released CCTV images of a man wearing a flat cap, double breasted jacket and baggy trousers. It was taken near to Birmingham Hippodrome around the time of the attack just after midnight on Saturday 27th of September.
The 30 year old victim had to be treated in hospital.
The peaky blinders were a Birmingham criminal gang from the 1900s who were known for their deadly flat caps which were believed to have razor blades stitched into the lining.
DC Guy Whitfield, from, Birmingham’s Violent Crime investigation team, said: "The CCTV footage is very grainy and we appreciate this is not of the best quality but we felt that the description was so unusual that someone would be able to recognise the man and come forward with a name.''
"We are still unsure of the motive behind the attack but what we do believe is that this was completely unprovoked.''
