Man Jailed For Birmingham Park Stabbing

A man's been jailed for more than eight years after stabbing a teenager in a park in Birmingham.

21-year-old Okeeno Wilkie cycled to Lea Hall recreation ground in Kitts Green in September last year - where he confronted three teenage boys.

It's after a relative claimed he had been attacked.

Wilkie took a kitchen knife from his waistband before swinging it towards the neck of a 17-year-old boy and towards the stomach of another.

Both managed to run away unharmed.

A third teenager, aged 15, then tried to run from the park, but was chased by Wilkie. The boy fell to the ground before being kicked and stabbed three times - in the chest, stomach and right thigh.

The youngster took himself to the hospital to be treated for his injuries and police were called.

When officers went to Wilkie’s home that evening, he tried to flee through the back of the house.

He was found and arrested on nearby school grounds, and found with two mobiles, one of which belonged to the injured teenager.

Wilkie, of Burlington Street, Aston, was found guilty of wounding and theft following a trial at Birmingham Crown Court - where he was jailed for eight-and-a-half years for wounding and three years for theft, to run concurrently.

Detective Inspector Richard Marsh, from force CID, said: “This was a vicious attack by an adult, who should have known better, on three teenage boys.

“Fortunately two of the boys got away unharmed, however the third boy received muscle and nerve damage and is still recovering from his injuries. We can only be thankful this wasn’t more serious."
