A Birmingham car key burglar has been jailed for more than three years after getting caught sleeping in a stolen car.
Ian Coyne stole the keys to a Honda Civic and a handbag after breaking into a home in Brook Lane, Billesley, around 11.30pm on 13 August last year.
Coyne was found having a snooze in the back of the car in Kings Norton on the morning of August the 14.
The 39-year-old, of Yardley Green, Acocks Green, admitted burglary part way through a trial and pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking.
DC Claire Smith, from force CID, said: "Maybe Coyne underestimated how relentless we are to catch crooks and believed he could take a rest after his crimes.
"But we have officers on duty 24/7 all year round and they were wide awake to swiftly track down and arrest Coyne within a matter of hours. We are fully committed to putting burglars behind bars."
He was jailed for 41 months at Birmingham Crown Court last Thursday 7th February.
