Jail After High Speed Chase

A man's been jailed for 18 months after a high speed police chase in Wolverhampton.

Dilip Patel from Wolverhampton led police on a high speed chase where he reached 80mph. 

The 30-year-old's speed was double the limit as he drove through Wolverhampton and into Staffordshire in May. 

Police arrested him after he left the car and ran into fields. 

Patel who was charged with dangerous driving and driving while disqualified has been sentenced to 18 months in prison. 

Sergeant Matt Cooper said: "The high speed chase may have happened at a time when most people would have been tucked up in bed, but that does not make it any less reckless. 

"This is a great sentence following some very stupid decisions made by Mr. Patel, which could have ended quite differently."
