Ellie Simmonds Open Top Bus Tour
Dozens of people have been cheering Golden girl Ellie Simmonds as she made her way to Walsall Town Hall aboard an open top bus.
The double Gold medal-winning paralympic swimming star enjoyed a homecoming celebration on Monday 8th of October.
She visited the Aldridge High Street postbox that has been painted gold in her honour before going to the village's nearby Cooper & Jordan C of E School to officially open its re-named swimming pool.
She then got on the bus at her former primary school which travelled down Anchor Road and on to Walsall Road and Aldridge Road, coming into Walsall via Lichfield Street at the Arboretum.
The 17-year-old then arrived at Walsall Town Hall waving to the crowds, giving people the chance to take photos. She then went into the town hall for a question and answer session with invited schools and borough youngsters.
The Mayor of Walsall, Councillor Dennis Anson, said: "Ellie wanted to make sure her home village of Aldridge was included in this event and wanted to involve her former school and we have been delighted to do so.
"This gave people the chance to take photos and catch sight of one of the most popular competitors in this year's Paralympic Games."
