CCTV footage has been released after a driver was attacked with a fuel nozzle at a petrol station in Birmingham.
The assault left the man with broken ribs on Saturday 8 November at 6.40am at Tesco Petrol Station in Spring Hill, Winson Green.
The 44-year-old man filled his van up at the petrol station, and was approached by a man who asked for a lift to Erdington.
The driver refused and went into the kiosk to pay for his petrol; as he did so, the man got into his vehicle and tried to drive away.
The owner spotted the man trying to do this and ran outside to stop him and pull him out the van. The offender then repeatedly punched and kicked the man, before walking off and then coming back and assaulting him again.
The driver suffered broken ribs and cuts to his head following the attack.,
DC Omar Sharif from the Violent Crime Team based at Bournville Lane, said: “This is an unprovoked attack on a member of the public trying to go about his daily business. He has been repeatedly punched and kicked leaving him with broken ribs. The assault is so severe, the hose is nearly pulled out of the petrol tank."
