Death at V Festival in West Midlands
A man has died at the V festival in the West Midlands. The 20 year old from Shropshire was found not breathing in his tent at Weston Park in Staffordshire around 1am on Sunday morning. He was given emergency aid by paramedics and a doctor on site but they were unable to revive him.
The immediate location was sealed off by police whilst a detailed forensic examination of the scene was carried out. Detectives from Staffordshire Police spent most of the night investigating the circumstances which lead to the man's death, including taking detailed statements from his friends. At this stage the death is being treated as unexplained and police are keen to speak to anyone else at the V-Festival who may have information or may have seen the male during the evening.
Ch Insp. Carl Ratcliffe who was in command of the Staffordshire Police operation at the site overnight said ''We are very saddened by the tragic death of this young man and we are working to establish the full facts and build a picture of his actions in the few hours before his death. We will be preparing a report for Her Majesty's Coroner who has already been informed about this incident and we are working to support those affected by this incident.''
Staffordshire Police are in contact with the immediate family and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
A spokesman for V-Festival added ''We are all very saddened by this tragic incident, and we want to extend our deepest sympathies to the family of this young man. Our team worked throughout the night to support those affected at the Festival site and we want to thank everyone for their cooperation and support during the incident.''
