The 'Miss Me' rapper says the 'We Found Love' singer and his 'Make Me Proud' collaborator are the two most important female artists in the industry.

Drake has declared that Rihanna and Nicki Minaj are the two most iconic females in music right now.

The Canadian rapper has collaborated with both stars in the past and has praised the two artists for their contributions to the industry.

"I really wanted to bring [Rihanna] into our world but still allow her to be herself," Drake told Rap Up magazine. "I think she really shines bright.

"She comes from a place that's so rich in culture, so rich in music, but being the most iconic female period right now."

He added: "Next to Nicki Minaj of course. [Nicki] is just doing incredible, she's my favourite person."

Drake worked with the 'We Found Love' singer on her 2010 single 'What's My Name?' as well as on the title track from his new album 'Take Care', and recorded 'Make Me Proud' with Minaj earlier this year.

Last week Nicki Minaj confirmed her new album is called 'Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded' and will be released on Valentine's Day 201.

Drake's 'Take Care' was released earlier this month and debuted at number one on the US album chart.
